'Twas the Night Before Christmas: Live Events Edition

December 20, 2018 Christine Payne

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
The patrons were clapping, every child, friend and spouse
At home, stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that more tickets soon would be there

The actors had memorized their lines in their heads
While ticketing professionals worked to sell seats instead
From the ticket office, on tour or at work from their desk
This was the business of art at its best

When out from the lobby arose such a clatter
That they sprang from the back office to see what was the matter
Away to the window they flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters, readied POS and cash

Patrons were waiting for seats to the show
They were laughing, excited, for the theater was home
The place of experiences where they made memories too
The place that is all this and much more to you

We are passionately proud of the art that is shared
And the relationships our CRM helps to handle with care
When what to our wondering eyes should appear
But a packed, sold-out house and audience smiling ear to ear

Each day, the Executive Director is so lively and quick
To say thanks for the hard work through the thin and the thick
Then, quicker than a Hamilton on-sale sell-out they came
To read automated reports they’d received and call us by name

Now ticketing professional! Now fundraiser! Now IT and marketer!
On seat maps! On donations! On PCI compliance and programmatic re-targeting!
To the top of the revenue projections we set for this season
All these efforts and more plus ticket refund protection are the reason

Our peers in athletics, they work super hard too
So fans can buy tickets and gear in a single online transaction from you
This includes a donation to help student-athletes
Who leave everything on the playing surface each time they compete

And then, in a twinkling, we heard on the court
The thump of a basketball before it was dunked
The crack of a bat or a great touchdown thrown
Fans roared and fans cheered as they watched the scoreboard

Their eyes, how they twinkled, their moods they were merry
For all that you do, thanks for the moments you’re creating
Whether it’s arts and culture, athletics, attractions or festivals
You are all so key to this team of live events professionals

Yes, our industry is full of so many incredible people
Like those you’ll meet through INTIX, TPC and at Ticketing Business Forum in April
And then there are the journalists publishing stories about ticketing too
VenuesNow, Front Office Sports, INTIX Access, TicketingBusiness News, they write about you

Well, now it’s time to spring to our sleigh and get back to our work
We’ve lots to do here at AudienceView
So now we’ll exclaim as we sign off from writing
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
